January 6th return all storm drain Maps and unused decals...We will be marking the Alamo area as a team during January..and handing out flyer's and poster to local businesses to alert the area on storm drain pollution.

As of now Lake Charles, Louisiana is only recycling 2% of its wastes..
Please recycle your Paper, Plastic, and Aluminum our station is open daily...
St Margaret catholic School the recycle cans are labeled...be sure to put your plastic in a bag only #1&2 Bring your print cartridges to the school office..

NEWS ALERT CALCASIUE PARISH

How many pound of recycled material do you keep out of the land fill in Calcasiue Parish??? Shocking news not much...2% is all we are doing in the Lake Area to reduce the impact of land fill recycling.. As of October 2009.
The Science Club goal for the last 3 months has been awarness of what can be recycled!!! We will be back in three months on this issue to see if our efforts have made a difference do your part and recycle

What a day.....We participated in Adopt-A-Road ; a community project which assigns different groups areas to clean ...We decided we would plant a flower bed that day in our School parking lot, and many of us went to K-Mart or Kroger's to hand out recycling information and to take a survey of peoples knowledge of recycling in Lake Charles.

St Margaret Science Club will invade 5 local area recycling sites to promote recycling in Lake Charles, Louisiana!
These sites are active one day a week from 10:00am - 3:00pm
accepting :all paper,number 1&2 plastics,aluminum,used cell phones,and printer cartridges.

Hi my name is Talmadge: I have participated in the grass planting at Martin Beach. I participate every Wednesday in bringing recycle boxes to the recycling bins. I worked on Oct.3 doing the solar tour.

Hello my name is Miranda: This summer I participated in the planting grass at Martin Beach. I also every Wednesday pick up the recycling boxes from classes and bring it to the recycling truck. Saturday October 3 I worked the Solar Tour at our school and help pick up cans at Calca Chew the next day. I will also participate in the Adopt a Road on October 24.I contacted Mrs. Babara Monroe to come talk to our Science Club on Tuesday October 13. I also contacted Mrs. Mary Gentry with DEQ to talk to the whole junior high about our water.

Hi my name is Khristian:September 19 i participated in Beach Sweep. On every Wednesday I go and bring all the recycling boxes to the recycling truck. I also was a part of the Solar Tour in October 3, and the next day I helped pick up cans at our school fair which was Calca Chew. I am also entering a poster contest called "Dig It". Also on October 24 I will participate in Adopt A Road.

September 19 I participated in Beach sweep. On Wednesdays we bring the recycling stuff to the trucks. I was part of the Solar Tour on October 3. I am working on my post called "Dig it."

What's up, my name is Briaunna : On September 19 I helped at Beach Sweep. It was so much fun. There were tons of things you wouldn't have expected to see in the water that we found. Among those things were a wicker chair, a blank paint canvass, and a bird house and many more. Also we are going to do the Dig It poster contest to show the world about are Earth.

Hi my name is Annabelle: I am in the St. Margaret Science Club. My mom was in charge of Beach Sweep on September 19th. We are participating in the "Dig It" poster contest too. Another thing I was in was the Solar Tour on October 3rd. We showed people the solar panels and the meters. Also we tested the beach water, we were all surprised to see what we found.

Over the summer I also went to Rock Feller Refuge and helped planted grass in the Marsh. I also went to Martin Beach in Cameron Parish and planted grass on the Beach. We are currently participating in the "Dig It" poster contest.

We are currently making posters on soil awareness and how important it is to us. At cal-ca-chew festival we make signs telling people to recycle aluminum cans and plastic bottles.

Hi my name is Bayleigh : I am the Secretary of the St. Margaret Science Club. I participated in the 2009 Beach Sweep on September 19th. I also participated in the Solar Tour on October 3rd. During the summer I went to Martin Beach in Cameron Parish to help plant marsh. As the secretary I take notes and type them up so that everyone in Science Club know the events that we are working on. Right now we are working on the "Dig it, the secret of soil" poster contest.

Hi my name is Rebecca : I am in the St. Margaret Science Club. I went to beach sweep, and solar tour also. I went to Cal-Ca-Chew and helped pick cans up and put them in the recycle bin. We always recycle paper and plastic at school, and We are making soil posters for class. We also made signs and will tell people to recycle.

Hi my name is Mason L. This is my second year in the St. Margaret Science Club, and I have really enjoyed it. I participated in the Beach Sweep, Solar Tour, and I went and planted grass on Martin Beach. I also take part in recycling, every Wednesday we go around the school and get all the recycle bins and then put them in the recycle center and then collect data on how much paper and plastic we have.

Hi my name is Jake S. I have participated in the Beach Sweep, and I planted grass in Rockefeller Refuge. Also every Wednesday I help empty the recycle bins into the recycle truck. On the second and fourth Tuesday of every month I participate in the science club meetings which sometimes involves cleaning up the school parking lot or the school playground. I will also participate in adopt a road.

Hi my name is Ryan T. I have paritcatped in Beach sweep and help empty the recycle bins every Wednesday. On second and fourth Tuesday of every month I participate in the science club meetings. In which involves cleaning the parking lot, doing experiments, and helping others in the community . Also this upcoming weekend i will participate in adopt a road and hand out flyer's at Wal-mart to inform people that they can turn in there recyclables there.

Students collected items along the Lake Charles Lake from Clarence Street to the Port of Lake Charles on ShellBeach Drive. From 8:00am until 12:00 they filled several trucks with all kinds of trash.
